8:00 pm - Terri Richter (Soprano), Wessex Consort and Friends present  “Witches, Whores, and Virgin Martyrs: Women as portrayed in 17th c. Opera.”  Concert features works by Caccini, Monteverdi, Cavalli, Falconieri, Mazzocchi, Strozzi, and more. In the mysogynistic society of the seventeenth century, women were portrayed on the opera stages as powerful, sexual, and eloquent, and even a little bit dangerous. Terri Richter, in this extravagant DMA recital, performs and presents a period instrument ensemble consisting of organ, lute, theorbo, baroque guitar, renaissance winds, violin, gamba, harpsichord, cornetto, and a few other auditory surprises! 5:00 All Saints’ Choir Pilgrimage Preview Concert.  All Saints’ Choir has been invited to sing in residence at two of the most famous seats of the Anglican choral tradition in England:  Wells Cathedral and Salisbury Cathedral, singing the daily services of Evensong, as well as the principal Sunday morning services. This concert features these works from four centuries of the English and American Choral tradition. Tickets:  $25 adults / $15 students & seniors. Online ticket sales end May 12, 2017.
